Getting Started

Connect QuickBooks Online and Intuit Enterprise Suite to Muse

Published by DeepLedgerPublished on September 26, 2026

Add DeepLedger to Muse through a custom connector. Follow the setup prompt, sign in, then record expenses, sales, invoices and deposits or run financial reports.

Connect QuickBooks Online or Intuit Enterprise Suite (IES) to Muse by giving Muse the DeepLedger MCP URL and asking it to create a custom connector. First authorize your company in DeepLedger. Then follow Muse's sign-in request to connect your DeepLedger account and start asking for bookkeeping work in plain English.

The server address is:

https://mcp.deepledger.ai/mcp

Create the connector in conversation · Use settings · Example prompts · MCP connection reference

What you can do after connecting

Through DeepLedger, you can ask Muse to:

  • Record purchases: bills, expenses, bill payments and vendor credits.
  • Manage sales records: estimates, invoices, customer payments, sales receipts, customer credits and refund receipts.
  • Record other transactions: bank deposits, transfers between accounts and journal entries.
  • Run financial reports: profit and loss, balance sheet, cash flow, receivables and payables aging, general ledger and trial balance. Ask follow-up questions about changes in income, costs or cash.
  • Prepare month-end close: track checks, flag issues, assemble financial statements and propose adjusting entries in DeepLedger's Close Sheet. You review the work and sign off.
  • Work through review tasks: collect missing information, clarify accounting decisions and track questions through completion in DeepLedger's Tasks.
  • Find supporting information: look up customers, vendors, accounts, transactions, uploaded documents and separately connected or imported bank-feed entries. Approved accounting decisions can become reusable company memory in DeepLedger.

Before you start

  • A DeepLedger account with access to the company you want to use.
  • A QuickBooks Online company or Intuit Enterprise Suite entity you can authorize through Intuit.
  • Access to Muse and its custom-connector feature. Availability can depend on your account and current Muse rollout.

This is a custom connector, separate from approval in Muse's connector directory. Meta documents that users can ask Muse to create custom connectors for services outside its list; these connectors are not reviewed by Meta. See Meta's connector guide.

Step 1: Connect your books to DeepLedger

  1. Sign in to DeepLedger.
  2. Open Settings → Company and QBO Connect.
  3. Find or add your company, select Connect QB, and complete the Intuit authorization for that company.
  4. Return to DeepLedger and check that the company is connected.

For Intuit Enterprise Suite, repeat this for each entity you want Muse to work with. A parent and its child companies have separate books and connections. Authorizing the parent alone does not authorize its children.

DeepLedger currently retrieves reports for an individual connected entity. This connection does not expose native IES intercompany journal entries or automatically produce consolidated reports. See our IES connection guide and Intuit's API FAQ.

Step 2: Create the connector in a Muse conversation

Open a new Muse conversation and paste this setup message:

Create a custom connector named DeepLedger so I can use my
QuickBooks Online or Intuit Enterprise Suite company in Muse.

MCP server: https://mcp.deepledger.ai/mcp
Transport: Streamable HTTP
Authentication: OAuth with PKCE (S256)
Setup and connection reference:
https://deepledger.ai/blog/connect-quickbooks-to-muse

Use the server's OAuth discovery information and guide me through
signing in to DeepLedger and authorizing the connection.
After authorization, discover the available tools and save the
connector for reuse. Do not create or change accounting records
during setup.

Muse can build the custom connection from the server information. Let it finish preparing the connector, then follow its authorization request. If it asks for connection details, use the reference below.

Meta describes Muse's ability to write custom connectors in its technical overview. The exact prompts and screens can vary; the message above is a setup recipe, not a guarantee that every Muse account exposes the same flow.

Step 3: Sign in to DeepLedger and authorize

When Muse presents the sign-in link, open it and sign in with the DeepLedger account that has access to your company. Review the access request, authorize the connection, and return to Muse to finish setup.

These are two separate connections: Intuit authorizes DeepLedger to access your books; your DeepLedger sign-in authorizes the AI client. You do not need an Intuit developer account or your own Intuit application keys for this flow. Enter credentials on the sign-in page, not in the chat.

Alternative: Start from Muse settings

Open Settings → Connectors. If your version offers Custom connectors or an option to add one, create DeepLedger, supply the MCP address above, and choose OAuth if an authentication choice is shown. Complete the DeepLedger sign-in and any final save or connect step.

If the settings page only lists existing connectors, use the conversation method above. Meta's public help documents Settings → Connectors for listed services and asking Muse to create custom connectors; it does not specify a universal custom-MCP form in settings. A missing directory listing does not mean you must wait for directory approval to request a custom connector.

Step 4: Try a financial report

Use a report as your first request. Replace the bracketed name with your company or IES entity:

Using DeepLedger for [company name], show my profit and loss for August 1–31, 2026, on an accrual basis. Explain the largest expenses. Do not change any records.

A successful result should identify the company, reporting dates, basis and currency, with figures retrieved from QuickBooks. Compare it with the same report and filters in QuickBooks. If Muse returns a setup error or sample figures, the connection has not yet been verified.

When working across entities, name the intended company in your request. Your active company can be shared across connected AI clients, so check the company shown in the result before continuing.

Example prompts to try next

Use your real amounts, dates, account names and documents. Pinebridge Consulting and Cedar Grove Retail below are fictional examples. For a transaction, provide missing details when asked, review the proposed entry and check the saved record in QuickBooks. Recording a payment or deposit documents money movement that occurred; it does not move money.

Record a paid expense

For Pinebridge Consulting, record today's USD 85 office supplies expense paid to Staples with our company Visa card. Use Office Supplies as the expense account. Check for duplicates and show me the entry before saving.

Record an unpaid supplier bill

For Pinebridge Consulting, record the attached supplier bill. Use the invoice number, dates, amounts and taxes shown on it. Check for duplicates, suggest the expense category and ask me about anything missing before saving.

Record a cash sale

For Pinebridge Consulting, record a USD 300 cash sale to Cedar Grove Retail for consulting services today. Use our Consulting service item and put the receipt in Undeposited Funds. Check the customer's tax treatment and show me the sales receipt before saving.

Create an invoice

For Pinebridge Consulting, create an invoice to Cedar Grove Retail for USD 1,500 of consulting work using our Consulting service item, dated today and due in 30 days. Check the customer's tax treatment and show me the invoice before saving. Do not email it yet.

Record a customer payment

For Pinebridge Consulting, record the USD 1,500 payment we received today against Cedar Grove Retail's invoice [invoice number]. Put it in Undeposited Funds. Check for an existing payment and show me the match before saving.

Record a bank deposit

For Pinebridge Consulting, record today's USD 1,000 deposit into our Business Checking account using the customer payments already in Undeposited Funds. Show me which payments make up the deposit and ask me to confirm before saving.

Analyze financial reports

For Pinebridge Consulting, show last month's accrual profit and loss compared with the previous month, plus a balance sheet at month-end. Include the dates and currency, explain the biggest changes, and flag items worth reviewing.

Save a report to reuse

In DeepLedger for Pinebridge Consulting, save a custom report called Monthly Business Review with last month's accrual profit and loss compared with the previous month and a month-end balance sheet. Highlight the largest income and expense changes. Run it now.

Next time, ask: “For Pinebridge Consulting, run my Monthly Business Review for August 2026.” The report definition is saved in DeepLedger; each run retrieves current QuickBooks data.

MCP connection reference

Use these details if Muse requests API documentation or connection settings. This endpoint speaks MCP; it is not an OpenAPI REST endpoint.

TransportStreamable HTTP over HTTPS
AuthenticationOAuth authorization code with PKCE, S256

OAuth discovery documents:

A client should use discovery to register, authorize and obtain its token, initialize an MCP session, and discover the current tool schemas through tools/list. Use tools/call with the discovered names and inputs. Tool descriptions and DeepLedger's workflow guides explain required fields and accounting checks. Do not invent REST paths or hard-code tool inputs from example prompts.

Access follows the signed-in user's DeepLedger permissions and separately authorized companies. Accounting actions should stay within the user's requested scope, check existing records and possible duplicates, and raise review tasks when clarification is needed. QuickBooks remains the ledger of record.

Troubleshooting

Muse asks for an API key. Tell it this setup uses OAuth with PKCE and give it the two discovery links above. If it cannot complete that flow, stop and contact DeepLedger support with the error and setup step.

Sign-in completes but reports fail. Return to Muse and finish any pending connector setup. Check that you used the correct DeepLedger account and that the company is connected in DeepLedger. Reauthorize if access has expired or been revoked.

The report is for the wrong entity. Specify the intended company in the request and check the company returned. For IES, ensure that entity has its own Intuit connection. A parent report is not a consolidated group report.

Muse cannot find the custom-connector option. Use the setup message in a new conversation. If Muse reports that custom connectors or OAuth are unavailable for your account, check current Muse access rather than entering credentials into chat.

You want to disconnect. Open Muse's Settings → Connectors and disconnect DeepLedger where listed. Manage the separate QuickBooks connection in DeepLedger. Disconnecting access does not necessarily erase previous conversations or memories; see Meta's connector guidance and DeepLedger's privacy policy.

Common questions

How do I connect Muse to QuickBooks Online?

Connect your company to DeepLedger, then ask Muse to create a custom connector using https://mcp.deepledger.ai/mcp. Follow the DeepLedger sign-in and authorization flow, then request a report to check the connection.

Does this also work with Intuit Enterprise Suite?

DeepLedger supports separately authorized IES entities. Connect each entity you want to use. A parent connection does not automatically connect its children or return consolidated reports.

Do I need to paste an API key into Muse?

This guide uses OAuth sign-in with PKCE, so no manually copied API key is required. Sign in on the DeepLedger authorization page instead of putting passwords or access tokens in the conversation.

Is DeepLedger a listed Muse connector?

This guide describes a custom connector. It does not require or imply approval in Muse's connector directory.

Can this connect QuickBooks Desktop?

No. This guide covers QuickBooks Online and supported IES entities. See QuickBooks Desktop and AI connection options.

Verification note, September 26, 2026: This guide uses Meta's published connector documentation and DeepLedger's live OAuth metadata. A complete Muse-to-DeepLedger sign-in and report run has not been independently verified for this guide. The example prompts are illustrative, not records of completed transactions.
